Bowler Supports MSA Marshal Training
31 Aug 2018
Motor Sport Association (MSA) Marshals (and their equivalents in countries across the globe) are an incredible army of dedicated volunteers, in action throughout the whole year come rain, hail or shine to ensure the UK’s huge variety of track, road and off road motorsport events can take place for the enjoyment of thousands of entrants and spectators each year.
Bowler is delighted to have supported a recent training event for rescue Marshals using the race winning Bulldog. The purpose of the training was for the Marshals to better familiarise themselves with the safety and protection features of specific vehicles which compete in rally events, develop and hone their safety and rescue skills and enable emergency response crews to adapt their ‘on the scene’ methods and off site training if needed, with practical working knowledge of the actual car models and vehicles which compete in various motorsport events.
It also proved insightful for Bowler to learn from those who are ‘on the ground’ dealing with potential racing situations, the types of features that car manufacturers could incorporate into the design and build of racing vehicles to aid with safety and rescue.
Emergency Mobile Medical Unit (EMMU), who organised the training, is a fully MSA licensed volunteer rescue unit based in Morecambe, Lancashire.
Stuart Westbrook of EMMU said,
Thank you to Bowler for hosting our training. We learnt so much from understanding more about how they design their cars and considerations for rally racing, and by being able to put training into practice with the Bulldog. It was an invaluable day for the team and something we can take back to the wider marshalling and emergency response network.
