Following the unveiling of a Rapid Intervention style concept vehicle at the Defence and Security International Show last September, based on Bowler’s innovative Cross Sector Platform (CSP) rolling chassis, interest in the vehicle has continued to grow globally from defence, security, emergency services and further market sectors, for both this style of vehicle and potential variants based on the versatile modular chassis.
One company in particular that Bowler’s CSP Concept Vehicle has gained the attention of, with its impressive agility and performance across a range of terrains, is SteelRock Technologies, the world’s leading Counter Unmanned Arial Vehicle (UAV) specialists.
SteelRock’s technically advanced ODIN system, for unauthorised drone detection, tracking and elimination, has been mounted to the Bowler for extensive evaluation and testing. Impressed with the results, Bowler’s CSP Concept Vehicle in its Rapid Intervention Vehicle (RIV) guise was displayed at the Farnborough International Air Show by SteelRock where it attracted further interest from overseas governments and international organisations.
Further interesting conversations about the Cross Sector Platform rolling chassis ranged from the possibility of a customised body shell in very bright camouflage paint and fitted with racks to carry surfboards for beaches on the US Pacific Coast, to discussions about its use for border control in Asia and as a utility vehicle on an estate in Scotland.
These conversations highlight the versatility of potential vehicle configurations and uses offered by Bowler’s Cross Sector Platform (CSP) rolling chassis, with multiple ‘top hat’ designs and configurations possible from a single chassis to accommodate the specialist vehicle requirement of private and commercial customers.
Rupert English, CEO of SteelRock said,
