The Defenderists are wide ranging group of volunteers who work for Jaguar Land Rover and who compete in various Motorsport events in their spare time. Ranging from apprentices to senior managers, all have a love of Land Rovers and Motorsports.
Christian Femont (driver) and Peter Janssens (co-driver) from Belgium are now in their second season of Defender Challenge. When the car is not out on a rally event Christian uses it to tow speed boats.
The flying Scotsmen, Andrew Craig (driver) and Trevor Cattle (navigator) are both new to the Defender Challenge and off-road racing. They are looking forward to trying something new and exciting.
Mission Motorsport, The Forces' Motorsport Charity, is run by veterans, serving personnel and Motorsport professionals for servicemen and veterans with the aim to RACE – RETRAIN – RECOVER. To aid in the recovery and rehabilitation of those affected by military operations by providing opportunities through Motorsport.
Northern Ireland Racing
David Johnston (driver) and Jo Monaghan (co-driver) are from Northern Ireland. Both team members have previous off-road experience having competed in events organised by the Scottish and Northern Irish off-road club. Before taking the wheel of a Defender Challenge car, they used a Bowler Wildcat to compete in a variety of events.
Brian Palmer (driver) based in the North East and Matt Lister (co-driver) have joined forces to compete in the 2016 Defender Challenge, after finishing 3rd in the defender Challenge driver's championship. Brian previously raced in Caterham cars and competed in other circuit based competitions. Their ambition is to progress to European and other long distance rallies.
Driver Tom Bell from Dubai and co-driver Noel (from Portugal) are in their first full season of Defender Challenge with previous desert racing experience, both aspire to compete in the Dakar Rally.
Driven by Edd Cobley, 2014 and 2015 Defender Challenge Champion, and co-driven by John Tomley, experienced rally navigator and 2015 Defender Challenge Navigator champion, the team is supported by Sturgess dealer group.
UK based friends Steve Richards (driver) and Kev Handley (co-driver) are using the Defender Challenge as a stepping stone on their path to the Dakar Rally, which they aspire to compete in.
